Designed and Built Sustainably
Before, during, and after every project; we find ways to reduce waste, promote energy efficiency, and reduce our carbon footprint.
A home built sustainably is an outcome of a design philosophy that focuses on increasing the efficiency of resource use like energy, water, and building materials — while reducing impacts on human health and the environment during the home’s life.
The process of building this home was no different. Below are all the ways our team made this a sustainable build.
- Reduced waste by reusing framing scrap materials and saving others for future projects.
- Excess soil was hauled only ½ mile away to another project that needed soil, reducing the carbon foot prints of both projects.
- This project was built close to our home office to reduce travel time and carbon footprint for the project.
- During the building phase, we used a solar security camera to notify us of deliveries or production. This reduced our need to drive out and check on things and increased security of the project in the event of damage or theft.
- We installed energy efficient windows strategically to take advantage of natural light.
- Energy efficient doors and garage doors were installed.
- Energy Efficient Windows, doors and garage door. Utilizing fixed windows & long narrow windows for natural light but added privacy and reduced energy loss.
- Smart Thermostats were installed to maintain and regulate temperature throughout the home.
- We installed a tankless gas water heater.
- Sealing techniques were used throughout the home to minimize air leakage.
- Higher quality insulation products were used to increase energy savings for heating and cooling.
- Energy Start rated appliances in the kitchen help keep energy costs down.
- We installed a high SEER gas furnace for increased efficiency.
- We maximized the two-story foot print over the garage to add living square footage and reduce the amount of building materials used.
