There’s a lot of decision making to be done when building a new home. When we meet with customers during the initial design phase, many of them don’t know what they want. Oftentimes, it helps our customers when we visually walk them through examples of floorplans that check all the boxes to fit their needs.
Here, we’re walking you through one of our favorite contemporary floorplans. As we take you through it, pay attention to how well it’s laid out, how easy it is to move about the home, and how stunning the exterior looks with just a few modern touches.
If you see a feature you love, be sure to make note of it. It may be something you incorporate into your forever home!
The Exterior
This contemporary mountain home draws influence from nature as well as Asian architecture. First, we’re going to take a tour of the front of this home.
Front of the House
We love the mix of colors on the front of this home. The different colors and textures of the various exterior siding products highlight different features of the home.
The large, raised entry is ultra-impressive. It features split faced stacked stone and 8 foot tall black framed glass entry doors. At Custom Homes by Modern Structure, we’re focused on using naturally occurring sources, like sunlight, to our advantage. This home has ample windows allowing in a maximum amount of natural light.
Topping it off is a sleek matte black standing seam metal roof. Metal roofs are typically more energy efficient, durable and require a lot less maintenance than asphalt shingles.
Back of the House
Now let’s take a look at the back of this home, where there’s tons of space to relax and entertain.
As you walk around to the back of the house you’ll see a single sloped roof, adding to the modern flair of the design. In the back, there’s even more glass, adding to the amount of natural light entering the home.
The dual faced fireplace can be enjoyed under the cover of the roof, or from the other side in the open air. The covered portion of the patio has a ton of potential! Keep it simple with comfortable outdoor furniture, or turn it into the ultimate entertaining area with an outdoor kitchen.
Regardless of the lot on which you build this home, we would position it to block the evening sun to enjoy more shade in the Summertime. If space allows, you could install a pool to create a relaxing outdoor oasis.
The Garage
The 2-car garage shown in the floorplan can be kept as is, or tailored to meet your needs. We can add additional space for additional vehicles, work space, office space, or storage.
The Interior
Now, let’s explore the inside of this gorgeous mountain-style home! Below is the floorplan. Keep in mind, this plan is customizable to suit your needs! Just like how we have tweaked the floor plan below to suit the customer’s needs!
The Kitchen
As you pass through the front entryway, you are greeted by the spacious, modern style kitchen. The island has ample room for meal prep, dining, and entertaining; but you can customize it to make it as large as you want.
The large free-flow pantry is perfect for storing counter top appliances to create a clutter-free kitchen.
Just around the corner from the kitchen is the large, is an open great room with ceilings that peak at 16 feet. There’s even space for a small wet bar ideal for hand washing, making cocktails, or having your own cool custom coffee station!
The Master Suite and Laundry
Off the dining room is a large laundry space that conveniently flows right into the master closet.
The master bedroom itself isn’t large, but is just the right size for comfortable sleeping and relaxing. The tall windows in the master invite natural light inside, and bring a bit of the outdoors in.
Just like the rest of this floorplan, the master bath can be modified however you like! If you love soaking in the tub, we can add that. If you’re strictly a shower person, we can remove the tub and increase the size of the shower.
Additional Bedrooms
This home features 3 bedrooms total. If you’re an empty nester, any of the rooms can be used as a guest room or can be converted into office space, a home gym, a den, or a music room.
If you still have kids in the house, they have easy access to a bathroom, the laundry room, mudroom, and most of all…..the kitchen!
